Compete to Contribute
For the second year in a row, SGDMFA will be participating in the Compete to Contribute competition. The CTC is a challenge to non-profit, incorporated, minor associations in the tri-municipal region to implement creative acts of service that will positively impact their community. The challenge will be completed by the minors in the associations and will be monitored by a representative from the CTC.
This year the SGDMFA has selected to do a food drive to help and support the Parkland Food Bank. Instead of practice on Wednesday August 9th from 6-8 pm ALL Cougar players, Atom, Peewee, & Bantam will be going around Spruce Grove handing out brown paper bags for residents to fill with non-perishable food items. Then on Sunday August 13th from 11 am to 2 pm the players will head out again to collect the bags full of items. Novice players will be stationed at one of four local grocery stores handing out the bags to the public as they enter the store.
With maximum participation, the Cougars can win up to $10,000 in the contest, not to mention the lessons we are teaching our youth about giving back to our community. Player participation is mandatory on both dates. We will also require 25 parents and vehicles to transport about 4 players each around Spruce Grove. This will all be discussed with the players this week at practice and please follow your child's teams Facebook page for more info. The Novice players, we will require a minimum of 8 parents along with their Coaching staff to supervise the players and get them to their designated grocery store.
If you have any questions or you would like to volunteer your time to drive the players please email your teams manager as soon as possible so we can coordinate this event.
